Shale Inhibitors

BLACKTROL® is a liquid asphalt dispersion form blended with additives and  surfactants. It is used as a borehole stabilizer and sealing agent to bridge the pores and micro-fractures and to create an effective barrier that prevents destabilizing pressure transmission into the shale.

G-DRILL® is a polyglycol shale inhibitor. Protects clay minerals from swelling. “Clouds out” within the shale matrix and causes pore plugging and preventing pore pressure transmission. Promotes cuttings integrity, helps their disposal at the shale shakers. Improves mud lubricity and anti-balling properties.

OPTITROL® is a Tall Oil Pitch based versatile fluid loss control agent designed to provide superior wellbore stability as well as stable fluid loss and rheological properties of the drilling fluid even at bottomhole temperatures up to 220°C

DRILAMINE® is a cost-effective industry grade polyamine shale inhibitor. It acts by neutralizing negatively charged surfaces of clay particles and prevents hydration by forming a hydrophobic layer on cuttings and wellbore wall.

Versatile dry powder humate-borosilicate blend - WBM shale inhibitor, fluid loss control agent, mild mud thinner

MAX-FLEX® is a modified, synthetic styrene-butadiene latex, easily dispersible in water. Stabilizes shale formations, prevents clay minerals hydration and lowers the mud fluid loss. Forms a membrane on the wellbore wall, encapsulates the cuttings with a strong film, preventing disintegration.

POLYCAP® is a shale inhibitor/solids encapsulating polymer for water-based drilling fluids. It is a water soluble product of polyacrylamide and sodium acrylate copolymerization. POLYCAP® is an anionic polymer meaning it is attracted to the clays cationic surfaces and encapsulates them with the polymeric film. It is used in freshwater, seawater, NCl and KCl mud systems.

KLA-FREE® - liquid polyamine shale inhibitor. It is a mildly cationic low molecular weight polymer supplied as a highly active aqueous solution. Protects water-sensitive shales and clays by decreasing the shale tendency to absorb water, suppress clay minerals hydration. Inhibition mechanism is similar to K+ ions, but in this case NH4+ plays a role of an agent that suppress interlayer water absorption.

SHALE-X® is a water soluble organic material based on methyltrimethoxysilane. Designed to suppress shales and clays hydration process – both cuttings and wellbore wall. Forms a protective complex on the clay minerals, prevents water invasion into the shale matrix.

New generation high-performance asphalt based shale inhibitor specifically designed to provide enhanced wellbore stability in sensitive shale formations.

POLYTROL® is a new generation organic polyamine shale inhibitor – ether amines. It is a key inhibitive ingredient of the new HPWBM - high-performance water-based muds. This type of mud has comparable inhibitive properties to oil-based mud (OBM).
