Description
DRILAMINE® is a cost-effective industry grade polyamine shale inhibitor. It acts by neutralizing negatively charged surfaces of clay particles and prevents hydration by forming a hydrophobic layer on cuttings and wellbore wall.
DRILAMINE® particles dissolved in the drilling fluid filtrate penetrate and adsorb into the pores and microfractures, narrowing the pore space by the mechanism of electrostatic interaction.
Applications/Functions
· Used as one of the main components of high-performance water-based muds
· Suppresses clay interlayer hydration, prevents swelling
· Adds lubricity
· Prevents pore pressure transmission
Advantages
· Cost-effective
· Unlike KCl does not dry out shales, prevents compaction and spalling
· Can be used in reservoir drill-in fluids
Recommended treatment
2-10 ppb (5,6-28 kg/m3). If added directly to the active mud system it is recommended to add calculated DRILAMINE® amount throughout 2 full circulation cycles.
Typical properties
Appearance – Brown liquid
Handling
