Description
EXTRAMUL®S is a highly effective 100% active secondary emulsifier for oil-based drilling fluids (invert emulsions).
It was developed for the purposes of providing and maintaining high electrical stability values and minimal HTHP fluid loss. It prevents water phase from appearing in the mud filtrate.
EXTRAMUL®S is mandatory to use in heavy muds, as it provides hydrophobic properties to the weighting agent and drilled solids, prevents solids from aggregation and agglomeration.
It stabilizes mud rheological properties at high bottomhole temperatures.
Application

Recommended treatment
Recommended concentration – 2.5-5.0 ppb (7.0-14.0 kg/m3) depending on the mud weight, OWR and downhole temperature
It is recommended to add primary emulsifier EXTRAMUL®2000 first into the mud pit with the base oil, then - EXTRAMUL®S in the same pit, then – lime to activate the emulsifiers, then – mix with the brine (water phase).
It is recommended to use all available hydraulic and mechanical tools to mix the emulsion as much as possible.
